#Vinopanion’s new wardkadel.com is live!

#Vinopanion: Domaine Chandon #wine

#thesunitburns

Well…the long wait is over!  If not for my fellow #Vinopanions, at least for my own incessant #wine cravings and the need to blast out my ramblings de vinos. WardKadel.com is finally live, as we are in the process of shutting down the long-running WineLog.net. With this relaunch, you will find more content combining my two passions of #triathlon & wine, as well as a newfound love of cooking and of course, the chronicles of our life in #Napa.

Indeed just last night, with the Lady (featured left in the vineyards of Domaine Chandon) in NYC for a fashion convention, I knocked out two very enjoyable recipes from Blue Apron, which has been a life-changer for me to finally learn and love to cook.

@BlueApron & #Beaujolais!

Cooking and first dinner (heh) was accompanied by the deliciously juicy 2015 Domaine des Quatre Vents Fleurie (review Vivino), from Beaujolais extraordinaire Georges Duboeuf. And since the journey of wine can never end (thank goodness, right??), I listened to my two favorite wine podcasts:

And so it with those two tasty #recipe‘s and these two brilliant wine podcasts, I will bid you adieu until my next Ward Kadel – #Vinopanion – @drXeNo post.

Having trouble pairing Thanksgiving yums?

Le Wine Buff Thanksgiving pairings - EnjoyBordeaux.com…then let Le Wine Buffs do it all for you!  It’s that time again, where everyone eats hours earlier than usual, groans, collapses around 7pm and then finishes up the late night with a whole new plate, yup…it’s Thanksgiving! I’ve spent *months* coming up with painstakingly precise food and wine pairings for my portion of this article, literally until all of the skin was…ok, you’re right, I didn’t.  In reality, I sat on the couch and drooled, thinking of all of the super tasty dishes that I had every year growing up, lovingly prepared by my supermom, Mama Donna.

Herein I describe one such tasty pairing, featuring the QPRWK WKBadge-worthy 2008 Mouton Cadet Bordeaux Supérieur Blanc and the 2006 Château Haut Selve Graves, going up against one of my favorite dishes of all time: Bean Glop (AKA Green Bean Casserole).  The other Le Wine Buffs also toss out some fantastic nom noms.  If you would like to log these wines in your own WineLog, they are tagged with “LeWineBuff2010Tday“. Cheers!

#WKBadges - QPRWKMouton Cadet Bordeaux Supérieur Blanc 2008

Color: Light gold straw, very clear

Nose: Great bright lime, lemon and grapefruit here with a touch of cream and some light florals.

Palate: Very crisp and good for the price, this has that same great crisp fruit from the nose and just barely moves into medium-body with a hint of cream and florals in the finish. Great value year in and year out.

As Le Wine Buff for EnjoyBordeaux.com, I am paid a nominal fee for most of my participation.  I also receive free wine samples and my participation on this trip is courtesy of the CIVB.

Hello Vino & @drXeNo!

Hello Vino iPhone AppFollowing a dizzying string of new partnerships between WineLog, myself and other fine and fun wine partners, we are now part of a very cool and useful iPhone app that has been newly relaunched.  Hello Vino takes the hard part out of picking a wine while on the go to whole ‘nother level.  Choose a pairing based on the food on the menu in front of you, choose the food for the glass you just ordered at the wine bar or just search for a distinct wine style or producer…all taken care of very quickly.  It’s also all dialed in to your favorite social networks (their on Twitter themselves) so that you can brag to educate all of your friends about your synergistic food and wine choice.  If you pairing is a match made in digestive heaven, you can even buy the wine straight from your iPhone.

Hello Vino Vinopanion Wine Review Screen CaptureThe innovative folks at Hello Vino have launched a new feature on the app which features wine reviews and blog posts about many of the favorite wines in their database.  I have a number of wine reviews up there already, as do many of my superbly talented vinopanions, such as Notes From the Cellar‘s Steve Paulo (Twitter), Luscious Lush Thea Dwelle (Twitter) and 1WineDude’s Joe Roberts (Twitter, Twitter2).  The Chicago Tribune’s Bill Daley (Twitter) also has a number of reviews on the site.  I highly recommend downloading this intuitive wine app and adding it to your arsenal of iPhone apps.

Let me know what you think about the new features in the comments below!
